A ramble on a related issue. -_- haro February 5 2004, 06:28:35 UTC
Oh man, I never understood Sayo bashing at all. She's DEAD, out of the picture- not a threat at all.

I'm a big fan of SanoMegu as well.

It greatly aggravates me when anime only possible love interests are bashed. In Sayo's case it's just plain stupid, she's no longer around.

In my fandom ("InuYasha") the character in the "anime only" bash role is Ayame- a cute and spunky redheaded wolf youkai appearing in a mini arc of episodes 83, 84, and 102.

Ayame is, in herself a very Rumiko Takahashi character. She shows up and claims that Kouga (the wolf youkai who has a crush on Kagome, and fills the requisite love rival to make InuYasha jealous role.) promised her many years ago under a "rainbow moon" to marry her when she grew up. So yes, she is a lost fiancee. I thought it was kind of a cute throwback to "Ranma 1/2" myself.

Anyway- It's obvious by the end of these two episodes that Kouga does have some semblance of feelings for Ayame. He promises himself that it's best that he not see Ayame again very tenderly. (Because he may get ( ... )

Poor Ayame-chan. I just saw her once, but I didn't think she was so bad as people saw her...

And people LIKE KougaxKagura?! Jeeez. No hnts whatsoever, and how in hell would you come to love the one who murdered your family? Taking in consideration the fact that the wolf people are SO united and SO loyal to each other... no, no way in Heaven or Hell it happens. No, just NO.

Alos, this WAY reminds me of yet ANOTHER sad situation that goes by the same lines. The bashing of Li Meiling in the CCS fandom, because she gets in between the Sakura x Shaoran coupling. No matter the fact that she later came to support them since she loved both of them that much (Sakura as a friend, Shaoran as her first crush/fiancé). Irk, poor Meiling indeed.

In the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom, I tend to follow the manga (though I do watch the anime). Noa is an anime-original character. And he fricken rocks. Rebecca is an anime-original character. And she has a crush on Yuugi, which means some very stupid Yuugi/Anzu fans hate her. But when Rebecca is crushing on Yuugi is when you see the strongest that Anzu likes Yuugi. Jiikuroid is an anime-original character, but his random acts of nudity make the Grand Pix Arc interesting.

There is nothing wrong with anime-original characters!!

Bah, why hate someone who's not from an "Official" Kenshin arc anyhow? The entire final season wasn't even written by the director anyhow... >_>

Dear Lord, some people are idiots. Leave the poor dead girl alone. She has her faults but so does everybody else in Kenshin as does Megumi.

I hate character hating for a couples sake.

I'm sorry, but anyone who bashes characters AND says a same-sex relationship is impossible because so-and-so "isn't gay" is...intolerant, to say the least. (What I mean by that is that our good Western construct friends, "Monogamy" and "Sexual Orientation" have made themselves known in a non-Western context. *sigh*)

And speaking of Mary Magdalene...there really isn't much support for her being a prostitute. The Bible wasn't originally written that way, teh Church decided to run together two unerlated passages to make Jesus' only female disciple a whore.

// The Bible wasn't originally written that way, teh Church decided to run together two unerlated passages to make Jesus' only female disciple a whore.//

And then, Mary Magdalene was MORE faithful than the 12 disciples together. While they fled, she was at the foot of Jesus' cross. And she was the first one to recognize him when He was resurrected. And those are CANON words in the Bible.

It's like the Church can't fully handle the fact that a simple WOMAN was smarter than St. Peter and CIA, in a sense. Poor Mary Magdalene.

AMEN!

...the Church can't fully handle the fact that a simple WOMAN...

And so much has been twisted to where so many people, even Christians themselves, don't really realize what God did for women, that Christ elevated them to a place of honor and respect, treating them as equals. There's a lot of misogyny in the old Church. -_-;; ::huggles her copy of the book The 10 Lies the Church Tells Women::

Sayo bashing!?!
Where is this world heading torwards?
I don't care about Sayo only having an existance in the anime,i LIKED her.
In fact i liked that entire Kenshin arc.
I guess people get touchy once religion is involved. But hating Sayo because she's " in the way" for Sano and Megumi? Please, just shoot me -_-
