Two things

1. Further to the last post about Draco in Leather Pants, what's the worst / most annoying thing you've been called for liking a certain character? I found a post on Narutoforums today calling Sakura fans 'battered wives', and we've also been called 'apologists'. And Hinata fans are apparently all perverts who fap over her tits and/or fat lonely ( Read more... )

crying "she owes him!"

Friendzone talk is annoying as hell IRL too. No, I don't owe you sex/a relationship, and if you're going to complain about me just wanting to be friends, it means you don't value our friendship that much, which is making me question the reason you befriended me in the first place, and it doesn't really help me see you as as nice as you try to pretend you are.

I have no respect for people who believe that relationships or sex are things that are owed or deserved.

And yeah, bashing a character is one thing, personal attacks against their fans is a whole new level of NO!

Friendzone is a terrible term. It's misogynistic, sexist, and gross and so of course I dislike it in fandom as I do in real life.

I feel like I've gotten more flack for liking specific pairings than characters. I've been called a 'batchipper' (like batshit) just for shipping DoctorxRose, for example, and I've had a lot of shade thrown at me for shipping USxUK in Hetalia. I know that I got called some pretty nasty things just for being a fan of Kagome back in the Inuyasha fandom though (then again this is the same fandom that in that same sentence would call you 'deluded' for shipping the main canon pairing of the series, InuKag, and believing that it was going to be endgame).

I was called " an evil psychotic sociopath", and that I should be in gaol or locked up in a mental health facility, for admitting I liked Nabiki from the Ranma series, and for saying that some of the things she has done are no worse than the heroic guys of the main cast. Its a series about people who all without exception go to ludicrous extremes in the name of comedy, but somehow we are supposed to laugh and applaud when the main cast do it, but treat her as operating under the strict laws of reality that exist in the real world. Makes no sense.

I decided after that never to mention my second favourite character in that series was Genma.

There is nothing worse than "Nice Guys" who bash characters like Sakura for not putting out for every decent human male she is in contact with. I cannot tolerate the mindset that because a man is respectable to me, in turn I have to have sex with him. I agree with other comments, men with that mindset are far from nice. I'm a huge fan of Sakura and I've been categorized as someone who idolizes useless crybabies. Are we watching the same show/reading the same manga? I'm not saying everyone has to love the same characters as I do (admittedly I'm not a Hinata or Karin fan, but I respect their roles and see the value of their characters.) I think that the internet turns these Nice Guys into grade A assholes.

I have been lumped into all sorts of crazy ideas due to being a Zutara fan. I guess people avoid the fact that not everyone only ships one thing. It's one of those things in every fandom that I've had to deal with. :/

1) My tastes have been called into question a few times. I like Kouga from InuYasha? I must be an idiot shipper. I didn't get on the Battler x Beatrice boat at first? MORON! HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THEIR LOVE? I didn't think Code Geass R2 was as bad as the internet kept saying? GET OFF OF OUR LAWN! Or You want to cut the Earthsea movie some slack? NOT A TRUE FAN!

2) I remember a Youtube comment on a Korean horror game called White Day which was essentially, "Main boy went through hell to save main girl. She'd better put out for him after this."

....

Yes, Main Boy did survive some crazy stuff like a killer janitor and a random screaming woman with a knife, all for the sake of trying to give a girl chocolates, but come on!
