...Also happens to be my favorite. She does not deserve the hatred she gets. Spoilers within for Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night

I figured it would be Sakura, seeing as how she's the quiet and fairy girly character (according to the show that I watched, anyway) in comparison the other females that fight (Saber, Rin, Rider, etc.) or even sensei, whose name I cannot recall, who has a strong personality.

Ah well, this is to be excepted. I'm sure there are more female bashes than male when it comes to her. I've noticed this exists in RL where someone who is more girly (such as I), gets passive aggressive comments or hate because the tomboy girls think the reason men don't chase them is because of their lack of girly-ness. I'm also sure there are many other reasons, such as girly girls being the reason women aren't respected in the corporate worlds as much as they should, amongst that one.

It's no surprise that this trend or thought transfers online. I will always love Sakura though, she's been through a lot of shit and still manages to be the kind of girl she is.

While I do agree with you in regards to the silliness of the overall hate fans harbor towards Sakura, I simply can't bring myself to like her as a character. Empathy aside, I find her to be the most boring character in the game; in fact, she's almost as shallow as Shirou, in the sense that she seems to exist only for the purpose of being the tragic heroine that deserves our love because of all the pain she went through. I blame that on the writing, however; she truly had a lot of potential, and could easily have become a brilliant character if Nasu had actually tried to explore her in a more profound way; those inner monologues were the perfect opportunity for that. Sadly, the final product just gives us an enormous pile of ANGST that, while justifiable, becomes pretty boring after a while. Fate/Zero did make me feel even worse for her, but ironically ended up reinforcing my perception of her as nothing more than a pile of forlornness ( ... )
