Fail on the behalf of the original writer to give the female character her share of action scenes and proving herself in battle isn't a free license to make her even more of a misogynistic stereotype.

Word. And the saddest thing is, the Young Justice writers give the ladies plenty to do outside their romance arcs. Artemis and M'gann have single-handedly saved the day on more than one occasion. The fact that they also have developing romances should not overpower that fact and yet that's all the fandom focuses on.

I loce how fucking hypocritical fans are. They demand to have more women in X/Y casts, and yet when more women show up in said casts, the fans (and not just the fanboys, fangirls can be just as bad if not worse) CRUCIFY them for daring to not be SUPUH STRUUUUNG (aka being HUMAN and having *gasp* FEELINGS!). And they often do it claiming to be ~FEMINIST~, too!

No, I'm not bitter over the hate that Terra got from Raven fangirls, and not bitter over how people bash the fuck outta Starfire either for being cheerful or due to Titans in Tokyo, not at all ~

To tell you the truth, I have found fangirls (not female fans, mind you) to be worse than fanboys :X specially when it comes to OTPs and female bashing... but heaven forbid you criticize a male character (which I have done, because I often find them bland... *sigh*), no those a just *perfect* no matter what they do, and deserve all the *fucking* attention.

I share your bitterness.

Ugh the tumblr fandom is awful towards M'gann. It's enough to make me want to avoid the Young Justice tag.

"She gets in the way of Kid Flash/Robin!"

Okay, this is something I never really understood. I can get being annoyed when a character gets in the way of your OTP (especially for someone who's OTPS rarely happen...), but what I don't get is getting angry when a character gets in the way of your OTP.....that would clearly never happen. Don't get me wrong, I love slash/femlash couples, some of them involve characters that have never even met/truly interacted. I may love them, but I know for a fact that they would never happen, and I'm assuming that the same goes for these shippers. :/ Bashing a character just because they get in the way of your OTP, whether it be canon/fanon/crack, is stupid as a whole.

Even though I can kind of understand why M'gann might get some hate (I personally do think that she can be a bit annoying at times), I can't really get why so many throw stones at Artemis, and from the looks of things, she's the most disliked character in the series. I can understand people being annoyed with the way she's handled in ( ... )

I think M'gann is the most disliked, at least in the fandom circles I run in. But yeah, the villainizing Artemis gets is just... urgh. The most she's done is be a little disagreeable. Usually towards Wally. Apparently this makes her an irredeemable hellbitch or something. This fandom is so quick to see anything Artemis (or especially M'gann) does as a sign of an obvious hidden evil agenda. When really, that's not the case at all.

"...what I don't get is getting angry when a character gets in the way of your OTP.....that would clearly never happen."

I hear you on that. I've definitely seen the kind of fanon shippers you're talking about, who are so fanatic about their non-canon ship they absolutely blow a gasket when the canon ship interacts in any significant way.

Eh, knowing how this fandom is starting to get, the amount of hate that M'gann and Artemis are getting is probably equal. It's ironic, because most fans tend to think Artemis is too rough and needs to nicer, and others think that M'gann is too sweet and needs to be more rough. Go fig. :/ Also, might I add, it's perfectly fine for Superboy to be rude and bitchy towards...........everyone, but when Artemis does it? Noooooooooo, can't have that.

Well, Superboy has a penis, so he can get away with anything...anything.

Gah, this is why I don't bother with fandom :/
