I don't think the implication is that having boobs means a character has no personality. But I can see where the undiscerning film watcher would come away saying "Wow, she's really un-emotional and is naked alot. What was the point?"

In the original film, the strong feeling her character gives off is very stoic and inhuman. That's part of the point, in addition to her ubiquitous casual nudity. She's separated from her body and her humanity. The theme is studying the line we draw that separates sentience and intelligence from "life". Imo.

No, they didn't seem to be trolling or anything. The poster was like "Why does anime have no strong female characters? All the good fighters are either moe girls randomly given fighting skills or sets of boobs with no personality like Yoko from Gurren Lagaan or however the fuck it's spelled and Motoko Kusanagi." It just seemed really idiotic to me that they'd say something like that, but I guess I'm just defensive about female characters being bashed because of how they look and dress (or don't dress.)

They could at least get their facts straight. In SAC she was fanserviced by having no pants. It was in Second GIG that she had pants, but huge boobs.

Watch the original Ghost in the Shell movie and you'll see what they mean. She's much better in Stand Alone Complex and 2nd Gig.
