Word. True, it's a bit 'strange' that she wouldn't complain with all the reasons she has to. But that's part of her qualities - her optimism. Her hope. Maybe she's good to the point of stupid, okay. But she's the farthest thing from a 'bitch' you could ever find.
And she is really sweet. Of course they may dislike her because they would have complained and that's what they don't like. Emo sells as well? :P
1. She obstructs the yaoi du jour. Let's talk story foci, yes? While the Touru*Kyo romance has import, isn't the main point of the story the salvation of the Souma family from their curse, and the isolation that invoked that curse? Romance is not THE raison d'etre for the story...Do NOT let your adoration of the design of the bishounen lead you astray.
2. She must have ulterior motives; no one is capable of being so nice for its own purpose. {sigh} Was even Diogenes this despair-ridden? This sounds more like a case of projection than anything...What in the world do THEY think should be an ideal for women to seek and achieve, anyway?
I hear that it's because she never ever gets mad and thats what makes her annoying. The other thing is that she helps everyone out too much and shouldn't be special. I like Tohru <3
Anyone who knows me even a little knows that I am a shameless Tohru fangirl. I love Tohru even more than Kyou, Yuki, or any of the bishounen characters.
~sighs~ Is optimism really that bad? I mean, of course it's important to be realistic, and if I met someone like Tohru in real life, I'd probably think them stupid, but at the same time I admire people who try to see the best of everything and everyone because I don't think I'd be able to do that.
i think the only reason i would ever even BOTHER to watch this anime is because of her. optimism FOR THE FREAKING WIN.
Mm. With all the inner angst everyone has, Tohru is really a ray of light and hope, even though she has her own secret angst. Optimism for the freaking win indeed.
