So I've been a memeber of this community for god only knows how long and haven't done anything in it! Oosh... So here I am, trying to distract myself from writing a coma-inducing essay on T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land and I rediscover this community and the hated_pairings comm and thought, "Wow, what better distraction than blabbing about fandom?"

Song is a Sue? Now that's a misuse of the term Sue if I have ever seen one. She didn't even have special sparkly eyes.

It surprised me, too. And here I thought there was a character that the fandom couldn't label... I was wrong yet again.

I feel the same way about the A:tLA and FMA cast -- I like most of them.

Azula is interesting. On the one hand, I want to see her do her damnedest to defeat Our Heroes (and Zuko), because she's the antagonist and it makes for interesting plot. On the other, I do want to see her defeated and for Good to triumph. So, I guess I like her, but I like her as a villain -- I certainly wouldn't invite her to a dinner party, were she real. (I think a lot of fans have problems with that dissonance -- they think you either have to hate the villains, like the villains but hate the heroes for opposing them, or believe that the villains are secretly really good people.)

Heck, even if his choice frustrated me, I still like Zuko and understand why he did what he did.

Oh, I know what you mean. It's a little pet peeve of mine that people have difficulty appreciating a character for the role they fill.

There was/is/remains of Yue dislike bordering on accusations of being a Mary Sue. (princess, beautiful, special gift as a baby, cocktease!Sokka, ultimate sacrifice). The sacrifice helped define her character as well as help simmer down any hate regarding her interaction with Sokka.

And Zuko. Oh Zuko, it's so hard to watch him make mistakes over and over again! I just want the boy to get a good wakeup call and realize that dear sis Azula is *always* plotting something. It's like watching a trainwreck. You can look and scream and give as much warning as you will - but you can't stop it.

I suppose that'd make sense following fandom XD.

I do admit, the boy can be frustrating, but I was relieved at his course of action at the end of season 2; it just would have been too soon to have him some to his senses after a season of learning.

Sailor Moon has lots of characters and to make a long story short majority of the cast gets their fair share of criticising no matter how small the reason. Most of the bashing seems to come from watching the Anime series.

As for Wicked - I don't dabble in the fandom as much either however it seems Fiyero has been bashed but that's all I've spotted so far.

I'd have to monitor the fandom a bit to catch some of the crits. I do know that there is some Ami dislike among people I know IRL... which makes me a little sad.

Eh? I can see where they'd come from against musical!Fiyero, but what's their beef with book!Fiyero?

I've not finished reading the original novel so I can't say much however from browsing the Wicked communities on LJ most fans feel he's rather useless or gets in the way of their femslash OTP.

Well he does interfere with my Gelphie OTP, but I don't hate him for it, he's too adorable to hate <3.

OMG ALLENBY. I haven't seen G-Gundam in years, but Allenby manages to be my favorite character. I love her to death, and she was a hell of a lot more interesting than Raine was (not that I *hate* Raine...I just thought she was a tad boring). And her berserker state = WIN. I really need to see G-Gundam again.

Sailormoon. Gah, As it's been mentioned before, a lot of SM hate comes from the anime, which is okay, but the manga's so much better. T_T There's a lot of Chibiusa/Rini hate out there...I blame R, S, and SuperS. Rei is hated too. I think it's because she's so mean to Usagi.

Come to think of it, Hotaru's not liked much either. :/

I love Hinata myself. I can't understand why people hate her so much. It reminds me of the Tohru hate in the Furuba fandom...;_;

GAH! I forgot about Raine! Oooops... I'll have to edit this post to add on. I've been rewatching a few of my G Gundam DVDs lately out of nostalgia.

I also forgot how much Chibiusa is disliked... but Hotaru? She's so sweet.

Most of the Hinata hate I've witnessed comes from my NaruSaku subfandom... It's sad how people act toward a romantic rival of their OTP.

I don't really support NaruSaku (not saying I hate Sakura...I love her to death, actually XD, I just don't think she and Naruto belong togehter), so that might stem my Hinata love even more, but Hinata's a damned cool character and I love her to death too.

I think most of the Hotaru hate stems from the anime, because she's SO MUCH COOLER in the manga. People don't like her because she's frail and "weak", along with the fact that ZOMG she has healing powers. That, and I think they don't like the balance between Hotaru and Saturn. I guess they see it as Saturn is kickass and Hotaru is just...there. o.o

I dunno, I really didn't mind anime!Hotaru, regardless of the difference from the manga. I guess it just takes a lot for me to hate a character.
