Garnet from FFIX

Princess Garnet, along with IX in general tend to get bashed. I always hate seeing Garnet bashing because it's usually people who are inconsiderate to what's actually happening in the game, or it's because they misunderstand her character.

I liked Garnet. Although I thought she should have left the party until she got her voice back, but that's more from a battling standpoint than anything about her personally.

Same here. I don't know how many times I wound up with various status effects or KO's fouling up the rest of the party because Garnet unexpectedly decided that she'd rather waste a turn doing nothing than healing them.

I totally respect her from a storyline standpoint, but there's points in the game where she's horribly suboptimal in battles and where I find myself wishing I wasn't forced to have her in the party. Or that she and Eiko had more divergent skill sets so that it didn't feel quite so redundant having both of them.

I think I agree 100% with this comment. Liked Garnet a lot, but during that point in time she had no voice... wow, was it annoying to have her in the party. Other than that, she rocked.

I absolutely loved Garnet. FFIX was my absolute favorite game of the entire series and it's because the story line was so intriguing and the characters were handled so well. They all just grow on you from beginning to end, and sometimes I honestly don't know why people go on hating anything about the game. It was just sweet and very well thought out.

Bah to the haters.

Final Fantasy IX is far from perfect. It's story is over cluttered and suffers from astoundingly poor pacing, it has an overabundance of random battles and load times, the Trance system is yet another failed attempt at a Limit Break mechanic that isn't somehow broken, it has antagonists with personalities and motives as two-dimensional as the NES FF antagonists, Zemus, Exdeath and Kefka, yet are exposed and hyped up to the degree of Sephiroth (the only exception to this is IX's Garland), and it thrusts Quina, Brahne and Kuja upon the players ( ... )
