"Comic Relief" does not equal "Stupid and Weak"

Comic relief characters always seem to be fair, easy targets for character bashers. And all I can ask is, "Why?"

The character in question is Johnny Cage of Mortal Kombat.

I can't say I'm a MK fan (my expertise in fighting games is more SNK related than anything - long life King of Fighters and Garou Densetsu), but I quite agree. With all the darkness and gore, Johnny's tragicomical arrogance and chererful attitude is quite a refreshing change, and I can't help having a soft spot for him.

Not to mention that ANY guy who has punching his male opponents *in the groin* as a *special move* gains my adoration. ;D

I know, I just love the part in the first MK movie where he punches Goro down there. And it's such a fun move to perform.

I don't know much of what you're talking about, 'cause the Mortal Combat I spent (read:wasted) most of my childhood (I was twelve when we sold my Sega) on is the original for the Sega Genesis, which had absolutely no plot outside of the manual pamphlet. I remember I used to make fun of him for being a blue belt though XD
