I just got finished with the entire Gundam Seed series. I liked the entire cast even the baddies. I don't think there is a single character I hate. I can understand why people might hate some of the villians, but one thing baffles me. I can't see why people would hate Lacus.

She's too perfect? That's such a retarded argument and dumb reason to hate a character.

Whoa, whoa, calm down. I'm fine with Lacus myself, but I don't see how disliking a certain trait of a character is "dumb" or "retarded" anymore than liking that particular trait is.

Well, it's not that people dislike her for it. It's an excuse to bash her, and say that she's a Mary-Sue. It's not the dislike that I hate. It's the mindless bashing, and that trait is used as an excuse. Besides, I don't find Lacus to be perfect. She's had her weak moments too. People just refuse to acknowledge them. I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear in my post.

O.o People don't like Lacus for other reasons and they're not exactly 'dumb ass' ones. And she's one of the most popular characters in Gundam SEED. Isn't this a community for those characters which the majority of the fandom has a problem with?

The majority of the fandom doesn't have to (I don't see that as some kind of rule), but a big chunk does in this case. Cagalli is one of the most popular characters, but that doesn't stop defense posts on her from getting approved of. You replied to one in agreement, right?

Umm tons of people hate Lacus. I really wish that every time someone brought her up, someone didn't have to reply and go on about how she's not hated. Because she absolutely is. And you can see that quite clearly if you take a good look at the fandom.

Like five percent of fandom don't like her. Meyrin, Fllay, and Meer usually get the most of the bashing. I'm sure it's the same people commenting over and over again that they don't Lacus.

I disagree. I think more than five percent of the fandom dislikes her. I also think that she's not that much less hated than Meer, who garnered many more fans as her story went on. Meyrin is another story completely, of course. As is Fllay.

It is some of the same people, that's true- at least over on gundamseed. However, she did have a hate community which would jmho be enough to warrant a post here. I really just think Lacus is one of those characters that a lot of the fandom refuses to acknowledge as a hated character (I'm not blaming you at all, but this is something that I think happens), and turns a blind-eye to the bashing of. I see this in some other fandoms as well, especially with Kagome from Inuyasha, who is very heavily bashed but it's pretty much ignored. This might be because some of the more staunch defenders of the other characters are the ones bashing her. Lacus might be the same.
