Cait Sith

Ok, I'm going to defend Cait Sith who is possibly the most hated character in Final Fantasy VII. I actually found him to be one of the more interesting characters. I'm actually kind of nervous about doing this. We'll see how it goes.

Agreed on all accounts! Cait Sith was one of my favorites, and I definitely would have used him more had Nanaki and Vincent not been so valuable in my party. I'll definitely use him in my next playthrough, since I'd like to see more of his dialogue. :D

I see alot of Cait Sith hate due to the betrayal. Personally, I was thinking "He's a traitor?! AWESOME! PLOT TWIST!" Not to mention he was genuinely remorseful for it from the start, I always knew he wasn't bad. Too bad most fandom doesn't see that.

I like Cait Sith, I just don't like him in battle, and wasn't sure how I felt about him after the Keystone incident, but he redeemed himself quickly.

Cait Sith is the same to me as Tifa - I don't love him but he adds so much to the game in terms of character. He is the group's vital link to Shinra. Let's not forget that this Mako company rules the world, here. If Cait Sith wasn't around to tell the group half of what was going on, they'd have been finished before disc three.
And yes, that dialogue with Barret was necessary for Barret's growth as a character. Later on, Barret reflects that, yes, blowing up the Mako reactors was NOT the way to go about it. Many innocent people died because of him, and Cait Sith was the only one to point this out.
Do the group ever truly trust him? I don't know, but I think they often put their faith in him anyway. He's a necessary, interesting character. Would people rather he had just been a stuffed Mog dancing around all the time, instead of a three-dimensional spy?
