Well, I found a site that contained a bash-fest known as "Anime's Most Annyoing Women". The comments there were so ridiculous and bad, I had to share and counter them here.

And don't get me wrong, I love Tifa and Tifa/Cloud, but I also love Aeris and Aeris/Cloud. But the "stupid hair"?... I like her hair. ;) And dude, Tifa has a damn FISHTAIL at the end of her hair, how is that not at least a little weird? ;)

And you hate Aerith for all these reasons, and yet when Sephiroth commits MURDER, you love him.

Behold the power of bishy!penis. :P

Heh, that last one contains a huge factual error as well. Sephiroth wasn't part Cetra. He had JENOVA's cells in him, sure. But as the game reveals, JENOVA wasn't a Cetra. She was a calamity from the sky, or an alien if you prefer.

Also, an argument can be made that Aerith was being totally insensitive to Tifa's feelings in the Temple of the Ancients(assuming you brought Tifa along anyway), and that's certainly one of her faults, but that doesn't merit that diatribe.

Now THAT is something many Sephiroth fans do not get. Sephiroth thought he was a Cetra when he wasn't, killed the last real Cetra, tried to fulfill the dream of their killer and died without knowing he was a mere pawn in that disembodied head's scheme.

It almost made me pity him for being so dumb. Almost. *snicker*

Actually, he knew that JENOVA wasn't a Cetra by the time Cloud and company see him in the present day, since he shakes his head at Cloud's saying that JENOVA was a Cetra.

He was in total control of JENOVA through the whole game really, using pieces of her body to give him temporary bodies to send his will through to execute his schemes.

So no, he wasn't really dumb.

Old thing. One REALLY old thing, which thankfully has been dead for years. Otherwise, I'd die form all the stupid. :/

Also: Miki Koishikawa bashers there? Yuu and Ginta, "two perfectly nice guys"? Hah! Both are handsome and good intentioned, but Yuu has one shitty self-esteem (he was this close to become a "hikikomori" for very spoiler-ific reasons) and Ginta has BIG anger problems. So, "perfectly nice" my ass. Miki isn't the only one to blame, dammit.

PS: Did you see the "Anime's Most Annoying Men" section? The Mamoru part makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Same goes to the Wiseman section.

Forgot to add... Aerith? USELESS in battle? HAH! Seal Evil and Healing Wind saved my party's ass SO many times that when Aerith died in my game, more than sad for her death, I was all "OH NOES LOST MY KICKASS HEALER!!!1 DDDDD:". XD

And I'm pro-Tifa, yet I learnt to like Aerith (while still resenting the Tseng part; good job, and a Cloud/Tifa devotée flowergirl :/ ), so there. :3

Same here - when Aeris left, it threw off the dynamic of my party big time. Vincent with a Cure materia just wasn't the same.
I always felt obligated to be nice to her and use her, though, since I knew what was going to happen :D

This is what I really hate about the bashings of some characters--they lie about their personalities most of the time and they lie about how other characters feel about them. Zel hating Amelia? Oh, please, their relationship was one of my favorite things while watching Slayers. ...And hating her for her name? It's not as if we get to choose our names, people!

Double-standards, ahoy! What--Sephiroth can get away with murder and have basically the same hair-style but...Aerith...well, forget her--she's a girl. She can't have that hair-style OR be happy. Ugh, I hate bashings based on shipping above all.

And Videl, too...not gonna touch that one, just going to sit here shaking my head at the prosecution and how lame it was.

That pisses me off. I've ranted quite a bit about fan soapboxing, where just because they hate a character they have to make everyone else hate the character, too. So we have fics where Hotohori thinks Yui is a goddess and Miaka is a whore, comics where Eliwood thanks Nergal for killing Marcus, fics with Duo calling Relena a bitch...
