My opinion on these opinions...

These are some stuff I found on "Final Fantasy Freaks." The webmistress, Lark, is not as big a fanbrat as many but she's still a typical fangirl. She dislikes most female characters (and some charcters who look female) and loves bishounen, yaoi, etc. There are alot of things she's said that I disagree with....

Ueeheeheeheehee! )

final fantasy ix, final fantasy vi, final fantasy viii, final fantasy vii

...her opinion on Kuja is reasonable?

Sorry, my Kuja fangirl is showing.

Honestly, he's one of the best villains the FF series has had. While I MIGHT understand if she hated him because he was a manipulative, arrogant bastard (which, he is), she seems to be harping on just his appearance and how he dresses as to why he's "a bad character".

Which is stupid.

Yeah, I can see why she'd hate him for being evil, but I guess you don't think it's reasonable because she goes like I HATE HIM! I HATE HIM! I HATE HIM! and yeah, that's just stupid. And as I said, I hate that she makes fun of his looks alot. I'm not saying I LIKE her opinion on Kuja, I'm just saying I understand SOME of it. And empress_dots, I agree with you that Kuja is one of the greatest FF villains. I love Kefka, Sephiroth, AND Kuja!

I've always found Lark kind of funny, actually. I don't agree with a lot/most of her opinions, but I find her site amusing as hell. Most of her reasoning seems sound to me, actually. It could be phrased a bit more formally, but only a few of the reasons are really silly. Also, no offence, but there are a few points where you're jumping to conclusions about why she dislikes them, mainly the Garnet one *shrugs* *plays devil's advocate*

Personally, I think not liking the way a character looks is an okay reason for disliking them, if their personality doesn't appeal anyway *shrugs* That's just me. I don't think that a bad appearance is a reason to bash, of course, but I think that it can be a fair enough reason to dislike in fictional material.

Lark's site is definitely funny. Did you ever see the "Anything you can do, I can do better." thing between Squall and Irvine? LOL! I love that! And I don't meant to "jump to conlusions." I'm just assuming because Lark never really tells us the reason for hating characters like Garnet. Heck, she's not even clear on hating Aeris as well. And does she like Kuja or not? Yeah, I still dislike Lark's opinions but I'll never stop liking her site. ^^

I have a strong dislike of Kuja, but those are silly reasons to hate him, IMO.

You know, I don't like Kefka either, because I think he's an idiot. Jumping up and down like a three year old and screaming dumb lines like "Son of a submariner!" whenever something doesn't go your way does not impress me.

I also found it incredibly dumb that he just let the Returners fly around and do a bunch of side quests so they could defeat him when he had his "Light of Judgment". Guess he didn't "HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE" Celes as much as he said he did.

In short, if I want an insane villian, I'll go with the guy in my icon.

And I wasn't fond of Celes either, for reasons I've gone over here.

Kefka rezo_eris July 6 2005, 18:06:32 UTC
Kefka IS an insane villain. The thing is, he is HOPLESSLY insane. He'll jump up and down and scream dumb lines and he won't care at all. He'll laugh as he kills people. He'll think he's invincible and let the Returners come to his tower. That's how screwed up he is. As I said, I love to hate Kefka because he's an insane idiot. And who is the guy on your icon, slayerofgod? He looks awesome! Less ridiculous looking than Kefka, that's for sure. ^^

It's Albedo from Xenosaga. The first villian I've ever actually been terrified by.

That's Albedo from Xenosaga. Insane. Not as insane as Kefka, though.

Kefka's insanity, and his ability to carry out evil and not care about it except for the fact that it is evil and he enjoys it... that makes him my favorite villian.

But the fanboysgirls always prevail

What a coincidence, on the same day I decide to make my first post, about FF8, someone else also posts about FF. I agree with you on your posts and responses to hers. They are the most ridiculous reasons for disliking a character. Personally, Kefka is hateable, but I think he's one of the most interesting villains ever.

As for Kuja, I happen to love how beautiful he looks, and that's no reason to dislike a villain. Just because someone is a flirt or isn't, and regardless of whether they are cute or not, are just far too shallow reasons for disliking characters.
