Like you, I have a problem with the killing of animals for vanity fur. I don't have a problem with the use of animals for meat or for survival fur.
I do have an issue with activists who think the rights of the animals exceed those of humans. I sometimes think groups like PETA really miss the boat with their all-or-nothing attitude. Would you pay $1-$2/lb. more for meat if you knew there was a specific, more-humane process for euthanizing the animals for meat? I think a lot of people would.
A lot of activism is emotion-based vs. thought-based. I'm sure the people who released those minks above were very happy with themselves and didn't stick around and see the aftermath.
