After years and years of reading different takes on Lucifer, this is so different. You read that he IS the Devil, he's evil incarnate, he's incapable of goodness, he's this disgusting monster. He's the orc who was an elf once. The Master of Lies, never breathing without the intent to hurt. To imagine that he could be innocent makes God the clear antagonist. Satan, the black mass, for all its frightening evil, is harder to demonize when it acts more impartially than God himself. Satan doesn't pick and choose or deny a fair trial.

I think the seawater on the floor is pretty terrifying. Just seeing it would make me pee my pants, to think that anything in your dreams could invade you like that. I guess they've all seen so much at this point that a little water is just a reason to haul out the mop, although Jenny and Eli were pretty freaked out.

I wonder why Samson doesn't like Gabriel?

I've always had this thing about Lucifer, as a character, and not just in relation to Legion. Even as a character in the Bible, his actual crime is hardly mentioned. It just says that he claimed he was mightier than God, or something? He got damned for something he said. I mean, okay, whether he meant it or not is another story, but seriously. I personally think that's really petty. And his name means "morning star"/lightbearer -- how can anyone associate that with evil?

Honestly, the role of antagonist (now that I know what's going to happen for sure) shifts from character to character throughout the entire thing. I won't tell you who it eventually lands on, but I can say that even that wrong will be righted. The key approaches -- there's nowhere for evil to hide! ;)

I know a ton of dogs who have a general, usually slightly unfair dislike of men -- because remember he doesn't like Eli, either -- but Gabriel did frighten the living daylights out of both Audrey and Jenny. He's just wary on behalf of his girls. :) I find it kind of ( ... )
