My mother-in-law asked if I liked Fruit Cake. Yes I do. The Hubby is so-so on them.

Do you like Christmas Fruit Cake? Do you like them blond or dark?

Post your answers asap.

Yes, either way, with lots of nuts and few of those green things, whatever they are. Bring on the cherries and pineapple!

Absolutely - it's marvelous stuff. :) I'm more fond of the dark.
I actually raised some eyebrows about this at a wedding, where we were given slices of fruitcake - to bring home and save for a year, apparently. Not to devour at the table immediately. In front of the bride. Woops.

Yeah, apparently that's an old English tradition, IIRC. Many wedding books mention that fruitcake is "Canadian wedding tradition". haha whut?

Anyway, I agree with you that it's yummy! Though of course I prefer homemade to store bought. As long as it's full of candied fruits, I don't really know if I prefer dark or light. Though I know I like the ones that have been soaking in brandy! ;)

Yes. And the best one ever was my wedding cake. I have pulled out one of the layers (I hope it is the last) and am using it as this years Christmas Cake. I am decluttering.

I invented an "Ontario" Fruit Cake. It needed 6 months to cure but "wow" it was fantastic. I like cakes with the fruit not the peel.
