[The face that will be appearing on your screens is that of a forty-something with tan skin, deep blue eyes, an exceptionally orderly head of blond dreadlocks and odd silver circular markings on his forehead. Kind of like a Tauros', except one small circle short ( Read more... )

You could put it back in its ball. That's what I do with Burger when he causes trouble.

An effective, yet temporary solution. I believe these creatures deserve to be studied closely, and the crude capsule containment system doesn't allow for that.

Your "Burger" - what is it?

O-oh, sorry. My pokemon's name is Burger.

[Henry Townshend: best namer ever.]

Did you ask it to stop?

I meant, the species...?

I have. And yet, I don't think it can help doing it. The way it reads emotions and changes its disposition according to them appears to be a completely spontaneous process, practically akin to breathing. Then again, I reckon it's also a child.

Also, I have yet to figure out what its nourishment is supposed to be. What do you feed yours?

Haraharaharaharahara~

Is it really that hard to get him to listen to you?

Oh, it listens. I just doubt that it can comply with what I'm asking it to do.

[Congratulations on being the first woman from Earth he ever interacts with!]

My name is Gorthan. I'm a scientist. And you are...?

[Hoo boy. Riku knows about disobedience with his Pokémon, but his tend to be... big, dangerous, and flesh eating.

So, he'll keep pretty casual here, as he responds.]

Could try positive or negative reinforcement. If the Pokémon stops, reward it. That sort of thing.

That could work. In your experience, what do these creatures find pleasant?

Food, attention, battles. Depends on their personalities, but you could experiment and see what works best.

Thank you for your advice. I do happen to be quite fond of experimenting.

[You have no idea how.]

Psychic powers? [Ah, so this is one of those Psychic-types! How fascinating.] If it has such fascinating abilities, why would you try to quell them? If it can practice on you, perhaps it could give you information on anyone else it happens to be around. I believe, in this case, it would be best to treat it kindly.

Oh, I agree with you on the usefulness of psychic powers. And I do want it to practice their use as much as possible.

[Hell, he can encode them into people's DNA.]

I simply don't want it to read me, and I'm starting to suspect that it would be beyond its nature to quit doing so.

I doubt it has control over what it can and can't do. It certainly looks young. [What are these chimera-things anyway, dear god.]

Its age may or may not be a factor. I suppose only time will tell.

Out of curiosity, what have you been given? And, are you currently training any others?

[Well, well. The PGC is proving rather interesting today, isn't it.

Kimblee spends a good amount of the message taking in the man's appearance as well as his words; the red eyes he's accustomed to looking for when greeted by such a person are absent. Good.

That said...let's get a video feed going, shall we?]

Not to be rude, but I have to question the logic behind punishing something that's showing a capacity for psychic powers. It's young now - but it won't be that way forever, you know.

[Red eyes? No, Gorthan's eyes are as blue as they come.]

I'm aware of that. I am merely trying to educate it properly. True power is about discipline and control, and I want to make sure that this creature realizes that, however small it might be at this time.

[He's noticed! Why do you think he's being so civil?]

And you're certain it will understand what you're doing? Psychic or not, it is still an animal that seems to have been created for battle. I have to wonder whether it will perceive what you're doing as an attack.

Even if it did, I don't see why I'd have to worry about that. In any case...

[He points to Ralts, the tiny Pokémon's head occupying the bottom portion of the screen. It's all smiles and excitement and "There's somebody in that screen!"]

... It strikes me as rather guileless.
