Though Sam's been led to believe he's the Devil's son, he is actually a half-demon. And his father is his true father. This is discussed by the creators after the show was canceled, so it's technically canon despite never airing. He has these demon abilities but never uses them unless by accident or in great peril. He uses his powers all of twice in the show, pretty much. And probably won't use them much at all especially when he first gets to the Port. The Death power he will /never/ use unless for some reason someone wanted their character killed in a plot. But even on monsters he wouldn't use it. It's just there.

I would like him to slowly begin to learn controlling them/using them more as there are people and resources in game he wouldn't have found back home. I will expound upon this in game plans.
Weapons:
Sam will be bringing one of his vessels to the Port: the nerf gun he uses to send his father to Hell. It won't transport anyone to Hell while he's here, however.

Point in Canon: 2x10 My Brother's Reaper

Character Personality:
In the pilot episode, it immediately becomes clear that Sam has been coddled his whole life. His parents are sickeningly nice to him and allow him to live at home rent free. He dropped out of college because it made him "sleepy" and yet they criticize his younger brother harshly for not getting into Stanford. Even Sam doesn't know why they favor him so much, but it soon becomes clear (on his 21st birthday) that things are awry. He accidentally uses his telekinesis at work, and then the Devil appears in his car. He crashes into a dumpster, but not before the Devil explains that his parents sold his soul and he now has to be a bounty hunter for Hell.

In the first confrontation with his very first escaped soul, Sam's friend Ben gets burned and put in the hospital overnight. Sam snaps at Andi and Sock and blames himself fully for what happened, vowing to capture the soul on his own. That doesn't last long however when he goes to apologize to Sock and ask him to help. Agreeing easily, this is when Sam first uses his powers on purpose.

Sam has a high penchant for forgiveness, but he also expects other people to forgive him easily. He makes a lot of mistakes, but he's usually the first to admit them. All of that said for his maturity, he's still very much a kid. He likes getting drunk, being irresponsible, and hanging out with his friends. He would do anything for his friends and for Andi, but he'd also risk himself for people he's never met or people he doesn't like.

The Devil is constantly calling him a hero, and saying that he's saving people by putting the bad guys back in Hell. Sam has never actually been good at anything his whole life, and so when reaping falls into his lap though he doesn't want to like it, it feels natural somehow. He starts to get an ego about it, and as the series goes on he comes to embrace his calling more and more.

After the reveal is made that Sam "may be" the Devil's son, rather than shy away from the idea Sam latches on. Why not, when his life already sucks so much. However, he starts to get along with the Devil, making him especially susceptible to the man's charm. They do father-and-son things together, like playing catch and sharing beef jerky and Sam believes the Devil is his father because of how much he seems weakened by Sam's puppy eyes. And because Sam is Sam, he can sympathize with anyone, even the ultimate evil.

Sam decides within the first few minutes of meeting someone if he likes them or if they're a douchebag. While at once compassionate and understanding, he can be very judgmental and self-serving. When he meets Morgan, who is introduced as his half-brother, it isn't too nice seeing the other side of the coin. That is, the Devil treats Sam the way his parents treat Kyle. The Devil buys Morgan everything and the man wants for nothing. They begin competing for the spot at the Devil's right hand, though Sam doesn't even want it. Morgan keeps sabotaging him, but Sam gets him out of trouble every time. And when Morgan loses, the Devil takes away everything. Sam feels sorry for him and lets him stay with Sock, Ben and himself in Sock's mom's house.

Sam really is a pushover and can be very naive. He believes what he's told and goes along with what other people tell him. But when it comes down to the wire, he will step up; just sometimes, he needs that extra push. He's been friends with Andi forever and has always felt for her more than a friend, and though she seems to know this, his constant wavering because of his responsibility for Hell leads her to believe he's sending mixed signals. When she finally finds out, she tries to embrace him, and likes to go out with all of them to help catch souls. But she's worried for the state of Sam's own soul and how he might be led into temptation.

It is said that the Devil has no domain over true love, and it's no coincidence that Sam believes in true love above all else. On the occasion that he has beaten out the Devil, it's been with love. When Andi's exboyfriend Greg sells his soul to make Andi be with him, the Devil can't make her love him. He can only give Greg mind control, but in return his worst fear comes to life. A Texas Chainsaw like character manifests as Greg's otherself and attacks Sam throughout the episode. Despite being terrified, Sam knows that Andi loves him and will always love him no matter how long Greg "forces" her to be with him. By not killing Greg, but still winning back Andi's heart, he manages to win against the Devil. This is the only time Sam is able to "defeat" the Devil truly in any capacity, though he still doesn't get the girl in the end.

Within his immaturity, he might deny responsibility for certain things--when Andi accuses him of not contacting when he goes on a month-long roadtrip with the guys he tells her he gave Sock a letter to mail her. Sock is the least responsible person on the planet, so this does nothing to abate Andi's anger. He's also very reactive and tends to think his situation is the most unfair situation of anyone else's. Everything comes back to his parents selling his soul, and he can be extremely woe-is-me at times. However, he always finds it within himself to pick up and fight on, despite his inherent laziness.

Character Plans: I would love for him to get to know all the religion-oriented characters (Chuck, Aslan, the angels... etc etc.) Also the X-Men or anyone else who could help him with his powers. Sam is terrified and believes his powers to be "evil" so it will take a lot for him to actually use them on purpose. But fighting darkness monsters is a lot like fighting the escaped souls he does every day so I am picturing a lot of flailing and girly screams. Also hiding behind Batman forever.

Furthermore, because he utilizes his demon powers (unintentionally) in canon to 'sense' when a soul is at large, his powers will begin to misfire in the darkness/around the monsters. Because they are similar in that they used to be living people, I think his demon senses would react accordingly.
