I heard, too.
This depresses me. I never met the man, but I greatly enjoyed his books (those I've read)
I feel like I ought to be taking my hat off while a bugle plays 'Taps' ......

Personally, I've always really liked the Jannissaries books. I have the illustrated editions of the first two, but have never been able to find the third ....*sighs*
