[ ACTION ]

[ guess what your favorite Psychonaut has got back? SHE'S GOTTEN BACK HER LEVITATION. She's now happily floating down the street on a pink-orange ball of psychic energy with odd psychic spikes protruding out of it. No, she doesn't seem to be aware that she's hovering about three feet above the ground. She's just...sitting. And humming a ( Read more... )

[Guess what favorite Psychonaut character, have the one dude that hasn't quite resigned himself to the fact that not all people with 'talents' are out to kill him, or cause chaos, or abduct his best friends sister]

.....! Holy shit! What the hell is that?!

Exactly! Shit... ok...seriously, can you see why I'm a little jumpy around you now?

[Grumbles, running his hand through his hair]

I can see. [going to find that stupid motherfucker and tear his head off.] I still use those to fight. It'd be like if I asked you to stop breathing, darling, I do everything with them.[she's a bit distracted now, running through possibilities, thinking, motherfucker is going to find a horse head in is bed -- okay, maybe not.

But things are going to happen. Without thinking, she summons her levitation ball - not even aware that she has and sits on it in a rather contemplative pose.]

So why isn't the government trying to stop it?

[He sighs and shakes his head] People with abilities like that, they aren't common in my world, its like science fiction stuff for us. You know, fantasy. Not real. But behind the scenes, that group wields a whole fuckton of power, I know that at least one politician was indebted to the group.

[grinds her teeth and spits out:] Filho da puta, [politics. Always politics. Always, but the only thing she can think of is that poor girl, that poor girl.] It's unusual for us in our world, but not unheard of. The summer camp does have a brochure, after all. [she runs her hand through her hair and crosses her legs.]

You know -- really, not all of us are like that. We run a summer camp to train the children from blowing their own heads up. Not all of them become Psychonauts. Only a quarter of them do. The rest become normal people.

[and some, she thinks, like Mory, let their psychic insecurities fester until it causes them to kidnap her children, but she must restrain, must restrain.]

Yeah but you're weird, as far as I know, the ones in my world only have one thing they can do. I woulda been screwed if they could do all the stuff you said your 'campers' could do.

It's all about control. My campers can do all of those but they're just as prone to setting themselves on fire. Dogen has to wear a hat because he accidentally blew four people's heads up. Phoebe sets things on fire by accident.

Blew peoples heads up! [He visibly recoils at this] Ugh, I don't even wanna think about the pyro...

[she sighs. The camp is as much a training ground as it is a refugee for people. Milka turns invisible all the time. Vernon can't stop talking.]

The children can't help it. Milka turns invisible all the time because her mother can't stand to look at her. Finding her is extremely difficult.

[Good way to go there Milla, Ken's a kid person, he likes kids and wants to protect them, ok, we're on good ground here]

Really? That's awful that her mother doesn't like her!

[muahahaha all evil pieces falling into alignment.]

It's the same with a lot of them. Most of the children have -- issues. Elka? She's unique, even among psychics. She can see the future.

[oh god you've gotten her started about her campers. HOPE YOU LIKE TL;DR!]

Yes...[she peters off, noting the change in his body language and quickly tries to cover it up.] But of course, she's not very good at it. Spends more time predicting her next boyfriend and being quite...uh...attitude challenged.

[He has to smile at this, sounds like the preteen fangirls back at the flower shop] I see, like any other girl, huh? [He almost seems fond]

Yeah, no probs - that makes it believable. hartmanhips May 13 2010, 10:48:52 UTC
They are like normal children. Just with powers that they don't know how to control.
