Anybody notice that nice little thing Quinrose did for us?

Jul 19, 2012 18:35

Quinrose posted support pages for the PC versions of Mahoutsukai to Goshujinsama, Joker no Kuni no Alice, and Anniversary no Kuni no Alice which all have de-authentication files you can download. Now that all those games have a PSP release, they decided to give us a break so we don't have to mess with the security code issue anymore. So anyone who ( Read more... )

A part of me cheers in relief in knowing I can reformat my gaming PC without losing Anni.

But.

...Another part of me wonders if fanrage at the horrible, game-bricking, encryption on the PC games is why Quinrose switched over to PSP in the first place. >.>0

It may have played a small part, but I think it was more related to them seeing the popularity of otome games on handheld consoles. When Quinrose switched to the PSP it was already becoming quite a trend for other otome game companies. Of course that doesn't make it feel any less sad. Atlas crutch aside, they have to keep things more kid friendly on the PSP. Not that they don't push the limits, but I'm sure they could have gone farther in their new games if it weren't for the ratings. I'm hoping they'll make more PC games in the future, but who knows? Actually I could probably just ask them. They're good at communicating with their fans. It's just that I suspect I'll get an answer like, "We have no plans at this time.".

Hi!

Please don't think that I'm super lame, but where exactly did you have to go to on QR's website to download the files? I couldn't find the page for the original PC version of Joker so I looked around on the PSP version, but no luck...

You're not lame. Quinrose just put the link in a place where people wouldn't normally look to find it.

Go here: http://quinrose.com/img/sup/protect.html

I got to this link by searching through their PC products in their online store. For their PC products, they have links to the original pages for them.

Anyway, from the link I posted just click on the Joker no Kuni no Alice link, and it will take you to the page with the patch. Near the top of the page is an .EXE file that you need to download. Then just use the files you downloaded to replace you're original game files. Oh! Delete any old shortcut links, since they will still have the old security. You can make new shortcuts with the new files though.
