This has been the wettest and coldest spring of my life.

No, really, of my life. I'm pretty well fed up with it. Today is June 1st, a day I usually mark by measuring my seedlings and feeling smug about my hard work outdoors. Instead, today I mark by guilt and disgust for my mud-bog swamp ( Read more... )

It's a weird year. Probably, we'll be having more different weather every year. Some years, you just gotta call a mulligan.

At least, according to a lot of scientists, you can probably blame humanity for it.

I got a late start because of a wet Spring, but nothing like you have had. I would skip the peas and the brocoli if I was you and just plant your main season crops. Good Luck.

I don't think it's too late to plant peas at all. The last few years I planted as late as August and got delicious peas before the frost came.

Does it get hot there in the summer? The usual problem with growing peas late is not frost but conditions that are too hot for them and cause them to shut down.

No, it doesn't really get that hot--usually high 80s at the peak, but every once and a while we do have temps up in the low 100s.
