What a nice thing to do. I am glad you left some pebbles and it seems like a beautiful and simple remembrance.

In Boston, people left coins on gravestones and I still have no idea why.

I think that's an Irish tradition. I think they follow the belief that you need coins for your travels to the other side.

I've always had a thing for rocks. That's usually what I leave for my grandmother's grave if I don't have flowers or a sea shell. I believe there is a lot of symbolism and power behind them. And leaving them in remembrance is definitely a worthy use of them.
