Digging in the dirt to find the places I got hurt

The last couple of weeks have been hard on the ol' ticker. Work had gotten messy and tangled and only just this week feels set back to rights and oiled and humming. I really appreciate and cherish the phases when things go well, because the alternative can be so painful ( Read more... )

Is that a fountain in the pond? I like it! It should probably clear up after a while. Do you have a filter on it, or just the fountain pump?

Yes, that's why I was so interested in your aquarium! I only have the pump, but I think Allison's right, I need a filter too. Fortunately, I also think that I can make one myself out of tupperware....thanks to the Internet!

What a nice "pond."

And i wouldn't throw rotten tomatoes at you. They would be fresh brandywine tomatoes that you could eat and/or use in a recipe.

I could eat that kinda tomato like an apple. I would sit down in the dirt right where it got picked and gnaw away. :)

Your pond looks very much like the fountain our landlady made in a huge pottery bowl a few years ago. She propped the pump hose up a bit so the stream of water arced into the pond. There's something very soothing about listening to it on a hot summer's day. :) Well done to your men!

It's a beautiful noise, isn't it! Considering that most of our ambient sound around here is traffic, it's certainly a welcome addition!

I didn't like Blade Runner either. The book is good, though (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?).

I tried so hard to watch it. Maybe sometime I'll pick up the novel. How is your garden doing? What have you got growing this year?

The book has this whole other side that they didn't put into the film at all. In my mind, they robbed it of all substance in the process. It's not my favorite sci-fi novel ever, but it's pretty good, and a hell of a lot better than the movie ( ... )

Oh yeah! We also put in an Italian Plum tree last week! I'm so excited. The property didn't have any trees on it at all, which was sad. We got our tree from a friend who has a little grove of Italian Plums. This was a sucker from one of his trees. Hopefully it'll take. It's kind of dried out and dead looking right now, but they're incredibly hardy and it should perk up.

I also planted four varieties of everbearing strawberries around the tree. Since they're at ground level, I'm going to glue pennies to the tops of the bricks surrounding the bed to keep the slugs out.

I have never made it through Blade Runner..... it is so boring.

I am glad you got to dig in the dirt.

Funny that we both posted pictures at roughly the same time! How is your golfish pond? Do you have a filter on it?

It is in very very bad shape. I want to dig it out and re-do it, but D is cranky about that.
