Part 1
“Shit.”
Barney Stinson squeezed his eyes shut. This is bad… very bad, He thought, as he thought back to what he wrote in the e-mail he sent to Robin. They usually sent e-mails back and forth from work since her new job’s timeslot. Except he usually reread what he wrote since he had a tendency to write “I love you” before writing his name at the bottom.
Thanks to Bob, Barney didn’t proof-read and he knew he signed off the e-mail with “I Love You, Barney”.
Barney glared at the door as his mind was made up.
Bob was fired.
Part 2
Robin Scherbatsky stared at the e-mail in shock. Although she could assume that Barney was playing with her, her gut was telling her that he wasn’t.
As she tried to determine if he was or not, memories of the past few months since her one night with him flew into her mind. He had been different since that night, sometimes still the same old Barney, but then he was also different. He laughed at her jokes that even she didn’t find funny, helped her find a job, etc.
It was then she knew the answer.
He wasn’t playing with her.
Part 3
Debating on what kind of an excuse he could use to fire Bob, Barney almost didn’t hear ping signaling that he had a new e-mail.
He clicked on the page to see who had sent the e-mail. When he saw that it had been exactly the person he was dreading it to be, Barney took a deep breath and tried to relax. It is possible for her just thinking that he was joking or that she thought he meant as a friend.
Part of him wanted that to happen, but other half wanted her to realize he had meant it.
Part 4
Taking another deep breath, he clicked “open” on the e-mail.
I love you too, Barney.
At first he didn’t realize what it said - he was in too much of a shock… but then he was out of his seat and out of his office. He ran into Bob, whom he hugged in his excitement and in thanks, before rushing off to Robin’s job.
Within ten minutes, he was standing before her.
“Did you mean it?” He asked, completely out of breath from running. He was almost afraid it was a joke.
Robin grinned before pulling him to her - kissing him.
THE END.
