It occurred to me today that I'm sort of sad that no one is coming to my race tomorrow.  Cody... well, no shocker there. But even my parents will be out of town. My sister is in Israel. It never occurred to me to invite friends to go to my road races as spectators since I figured they would only see me at the beginning and end of the race and then have a bunch of standing around in the middle waiting for me to finish running. I rather liked going on my own because then I was free to mingle with the other runners and dawdle over whatever displays caught my interest or wander off to stretch or pee without needing to check in with anyone else. All that said, for the 3 races I ran where there was someone waiting to cheer for me at the end, it really was a nice boost and I was surprised by how much of a good mood that put me in to see them there. Still...it's nice to experience races both ways I think. I hope you enjoyed your race.
