Because YES EXACTLY THIS: If the show is only about battling meatsuits/angelic brothers/Winchester brothers and the end foredained. Michael/Dean faces Lucifer/Sam in the garden after all the allies (Cas) die in gunfire then . . . . .well then it's lame. And uninspired.
Awww, you commented on my SPN post. I know my focus is more Dean/Cas but I really thought Sam did a great job this episode. I noticed lots of interesting things re what they had going on with him - and why the urge to repeatedly focus on his penis with venereal diseases and getting hit on the nutcracker show - but I really liked him this episode. He was especially cute when he was KITT. I loved his "Should I honk?" And his facial expressions when the girl doc kept hitting him? Hee! JP did a great job.
And yes, the arc has to be more than battling meatsuits. It just has to be.
and Sam? Well Sam got smacked in the nuts for Ruby. Hee - Carver, have you been as upset about Sam not apologizing to Dean about choosing Ruby over him as I have been? If so, nice working out the anger issues. Hee and ouch and poor Sam.
The SECOND I saw that, I thought, "Man, Gerrie's gonna love Carver for that one." HEE!
BUT A-FREAKIN-MEN for everything you said about it all coming down to free will and family. Kripke is so totally gearing up for fate to get its ass served and it is gonna be the sweetest thing alive when it happens! I'm just on pins and needles about it all.

And wow I really rambled on and on didn't I? I think I was just so happy to be happy again. Sorry you had to wade through all that.
