Raped by a gorilla and HGTV

Jul 17, 2008 19:37

We were watching Countdown tonight and Keith and Rachel Maddow were discussing McCain's abysmal track record not just on his votes that have anything to do with womens rights, but also the many horrifically misogynistic comments he has been caught making when there were people listening, sometimes even with cameras rolling. The latest to be ( Read more... )

Rich and I are going to see Batman tomorrow. (That's not the title of the movie, but I'm sure "Batman" will get you where you're going. ;)

I also found Hancock very amusing.

Republicans are very good at saying the same thing over and over so many times that people start believing it's the truth. McCain fucks up and it's *Obama's* fault. There's no way in HELL you'll vote for Obama, but you're not a racist. Yeah, right. Moving right along...

If we go see Batman, I will need to stoke up on folic acid first. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the first one and I am looking forward to seeing this installment but a mood elevator it ain't. Maybe better wait a week or two on the Dark Knight and the Joker.

McCain is now whining about all the media coverage that Obama is getting on his trip to the Middle East. This is after the dumb ass baited him into going. Some people are just never happy, are they?

McCain is a dick. No one with even half a brain thinks he would be good for this country.

Here is Roger Ebert's review of The Dark Knight. Rog writes such wonderful reviews, and every time I went to a movie he gave low stars to, I was always disappointed. So much for deciding for myself. You might like to read his reviews for the writing itself. The writing is 90% of the reason I read his reviews.

I still need to see Hellboy I. I am ashamed to say. and me a huge Ron Perlman fan. You know, I still haven't seen Sex in The City. Leonard is very annoyed with me about that, as you can imagine. He thinks my priorities are very badly out of whack.

We could go this weekend if you want....Call & we'll figure out a time. We have made 'poor' Leonard very unhappy...although it's not like he can't go see it without us (snicker).

When I most need a vacation from "reality" I go for the classics....

Coupling or Buffy. Lately Rosemary & Thyme, but it's slower paced (though it has the rare oddity in a TV mystery of the killer not being immediately guessable).

Pure comedy:
What's Up, Doc?
Foul Play
Bill Cosby, Himself

Reading is also useful. Lately I've been going for Donna Andrews' Meg Langslow mysteries. Murder with Peacocks is the first, and very good.

Dorothy Sayers mysteries - and the BBC adaptations - are literally another world, that of between-wars Britain.

Lawrence Block's Burglar series (Burglars Can't Be Choosers) is light and fun.

Maryjanice Davidson's Undead and Unwed is also good :)

I have all seven seasons of Buffy, and I need to start using them when I have an hour to waste waiting for a pain pill to kick in. Honestly I keep forgetting that I have them on DVD, thanks to my doting husband who knows me vices better than I do. I have enjoyed many episodes of Rosemary and Thyme, although I don't have any of those DVD's on hand. I was thrilled to see the actress from that series in the Agatha Christie episode of Doctor Who. I ought to Netflix Foul Play and see how it holds up after all these years. There was a time when I could recite whole sections of Bill Cosby, Himself, and more recently I have become a huge fan of Eddie Izzard. We will be seeing him in person next Tuesday, which is a treat I have been looking forward to for a very long time ( ... )
