I just posted a 500-word ficlet to
romancingwizard, a Arthur/Molly,
Mated Pair. I feel Molly and all the Weasleys get short shrift, are near demonized in this ship actually. For the record, I like Molly. I like the Weasleys. Dumbledore used Harry. Sirius only saw James when he looked at Harry. Remus, Minerva and Arthur kept their distance really. Snape only

Question - was she an original Order member? I thought she had just too many small children around then...
I like Molly as well. And Arthur. As you said, they have their flaws, but they try to do what is best for their children. They have managed to raise all their children to productive adulthood, and I don't think that is *despite* their efforts.

Molly is a very capable witch in her own right. She is one of the "old crowd," a groups of witches and wizards who are faithful and devoted to Albus Dumbledore. Molly is clearly a force to be reckoned with, not only for the errant Daily Prophet reporter who wants a good story about the reports of a flying car (she tells them to clear off or she'll set the family ghoul on them), or for her sons, who cower before her wrath even as they tower over her, but also for those who want to see Voldemort rise to power again. Dumbledore talks to her not as a silly housewife who gets a bit giddy about Lockhart but as a friend and ally. It would be a mistake to underestimate Molly Weasley.
I just think Weasley-bashing has risen to just about toxic levels in the ship. I have canon characters I can't stand myself--particularly the Marauders, including Remus who many love. And I can't abide Lucius. But I think when you write characters, you have to be careful to be fair to them, even in original fic, if you don't ( ... )

I don't read a lot there, as I just can't muster up any interest in romantic pairings outside SSHG. But in general, I do like the idea of the place.

It's not as intimidating as it looks, actually. The prompt system isn't so different than a GS100 challenge, and it's moderated quite lightly. Neither I nor Silburygirl had a request for any changes to the text, and others I know have reported the same. And after all you've posted drabble series in one post close to 500 words--even exceeding it so in some ways this would be easier.
But if not this round, keep your eye on the com anyway--most rounds do lend themselves to SSHG.

In some ways, it looks more complex than writing a drabble (or five drabbles) - in a drabble series, or at GS100 in general, the length of the story isn't limited after all, as long as it comes in chunks of 100 words. Getting a whole tale done in 500 (or 750, as I think they've had before) words seems to be a lot more limiting (and challenging).
I do keep an eye on it, and might well sign up in the future, but as I said, it's tough to be around when there are still more than a handful of leftover prompts to choose from! Perhaps I'll be lucky some day though. :-D

I lurked a long time--and yeah, it looks intimidating with all those rules--but once you do it once, it's not really that bad.

Because GS100, not only do you have to make sure it breaks strictly into 100 words, but each drabble has to have a mention of Hermione and Snape ( ... )
