What I Wrote This Year

Nov 02, 2008 20:20

I notice that with the sshg_awards nominations beginning people are posting their eligibles--not that I expect to have a chance, but not only do I want to encourage that practice but I'm curious to see what I had written in the first year post-DH. Not much...

It's probably more than I've achieved.

Hmmmm.... There's only the expanded, Restrictive Covenantswith WP, the WIP Miserable Bastards' Club, and "Hymen" that I can recall... so yeah, not a lot.

I wish I could say that makes me feel better, but a lot of my favorite authors really have produced little post-DH. In fact, part of what will make it hard to decide who to nominate for for Best Author of Best New Author is that there really are no authors this year who have more than one to three stories that have impressed me. (Although in a few cases that one story has been an epic).

You also have the original fic though.

And... A Fine and Private Place, and some odds and sods.

I do have the original fic.

I've just got no ... I've got all the inspiration that I need but no commitment.

I find this quite impressive. Plus your SS/HG Guides would make for a novel-length now. I shiver when I imagine the amount of the work behind it.

Less than you think, especially the more I did it. The coding doesn't take long, and is rather mindlessly relaxing. As for the reading, 80 percent of fics are pretty bad, and you can usually tell within paragraphs, and most fics are short. So its rather rare you have to dig your teeth in a really good long fic, especially since I'd been in the ship long enough to be pointed to almost all the good epics and novels and had tried them.

That's to say, my lack of writing output really has nothing to do with the Survey, except when I was frustrated or wanted to procrastinate it was handy as a diversion.
