New Review: Noir

If anything, the show starts out quite slow and boring, then picks up considerably after about episode 9 (introduction of Chloe, Altena and the Soldats). So I'm amazed that you seemed to enjoy the first episodes so much THEN found it boring.....

Actually if chloe had been the main I probably would have like the series more. Although it does seem unfair when one character has an automatic pistol while everyone else is relegated to using cool but impractical weapons like throwing knives, knives or poison nails.

But a large part of the boredom was that after the opening, and the suggestion that the soldats conspiracy was going to be the backbone of the show, it took an awful long time to reveal anything... other than providing legions of faceless goons to be gunned down. Even at episode 23'ish Soldats and the whole noir legend haven't really meant much.

Then again, at the moment I'm watching heat guy J which has an even more extreme version of the same thing. Lovely environment, but just too little compelling character or story progression.

i was initially drawn to noir due to its music. Then I tried to watch a few episodes, and you're dead on. I got as far as episode 12 or something, and just flat out gave up.

oh, and the one thing that irked me the most was when they had flashbacks - the flashbacks were unedited! it was so frustrating
