Eyes wide open, Sango waited patiently until her husband's breathing slowed and the arm he draped over her stomach became heavy. Silent as a cat, she slipped away from her snug place between him and her youngest child, an impossibly active boy who tired out even Shippou and slept like a rock at night.

Thank the gods for that, she thought to herself as her steps became even lighter near her daughters.

From under forgotten toys and newly washed diapers, a hint of shiny black leather peeked out, and in her eagerness, Sango nearly ran to it. Changing in minutes, she noticed with satisfaction that she no longer felt uncomfortable in the tight outfit.

Like a thief, she sought the shadows cast by the village huts under the moonlight, hunting for the spots where she was least likely to be seen during such questionable activities. A wave of adrenaline at the very anticipation of what was to come washed over the guilt of leaving her family in the dark, in so many ways.

Inuyasha was already by the well when she arrived.

"What the fuck happened? Your heart rate is through the roof!"

"Bring it on," she said simply.

Shrugging, Inuyasha complied, his fangs gleaming in the silvery light.

As the thrill of battle consumed her, Sango's heart swelled like it never did among dirty laundry and crying babies, and she let her wakizashi crush the remorse like a small revolution against her true nature.
