Avengers Fic: Games the Team Play

May 15, 2012 13:53

Tony found Steve and Clint in the kitchen one night, a few beer bottles strewn across the counter nearby, and swing music pouring from the stereo. Steve looked . . . relaxed. He had pulled his t-shirt out from his waistband and he was leaning back in the hard chair, a beer in his hand, his feet tipping the chair on its legs and waiting for Clint to ( Read more... )

YESSS write all the Avengers!

Poor Clint! ;_; I could see that though Cap has seen war for real, now that they're Avengers, everybody seems kind of invincible, so it would be a shock to see somebody on the team really hurt.

Yeah, I saw the movie and couldn't resist. I really like Steve (and your icon). You know, I realize that injury and battle wouldn't faze him, but I figure that the bonding with the team is going to be even deeper for Steve since he's so out of time and free falling to begin with.

So it's not so much the battle that has him spooked here, it's the idea of losing a friend that he only just made. Wakes up, begins to readjust, makes some new friends and then might just lose one on his watch. So for me, I figure that Steve will latch on a bit strong to people here at first, while he adjusts to everything.

Hope you liked it...I'm about to post another one. :)

Oh, and I only have my friends to rely on for actual comic book knowledge. I have a comic-book-reading-disorder: I can't read them. I'm weird, but pictures throw me off completely and I tend to just read the words, which means I lose half the point. Then I get lost and give up. So comic book movies are right up my alley....but I might make some mistakes in my fic. Correct-away!

I read this twice last night. Loved it. It starts out so funny and then, Bam! It hits you how close these people have become to each other, and how the loss/mortality of one would effect Steve, who lost everyone once already. Powerful stuff. Looking forward to your next fic.

I am so glad you read this again and liked it! I kinda goofed on a couple things and am going back in to make it work (a mention of Steve's healing - he wouldn't be down for very long - is in order) better with canon, but I won't change much. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I'm new to this fandom, so encouragement helps a lot!

Damn, this fic started out really funny and then BAM, punched me in the feels. Great job! I really liked this. It still kinda had me smiling at the end (albeit sadly) because aww they're a better team now, y'know? <3

Sorry it took me so long to reply here! Thanks for your incredibly nice comment! And yeah, smiling at the end is good. Team + Friendship = Better Team, in my opinion. Of course, I'm finding that most of my stories I'm writing accidentally end up with Steve and Clint being BFFs. It's a weakness, but I just have to go with it... Thanks again for your note!
