Prompt #23 Connection

Jul 21, 2008 20:28

Charlie fascinated Colby. It was as simple as that. After they had started seeing each other, Colby had sat for hours at the back of lectures, just watching Charlie talk about algorithms, problems and imaginary numbers he would never be able to solve or comprehend. Charlie’s sweet conversation and voice made him feel loved again and it was a feeling he wanted to last forever. He couldn’t help but think that if it did somehow disappear he would feel empty and alone.

The truth was Colby didn’t see his family very often; the team was his adopted family. After the Janus list case, everyone looked at him in a weird way, but it was a natural reaction to a supposed traitor. After coming back from the hospital for weeks Colby had sat alone in his apartment wondering when everything was going to go back to normal. He would enter his office and would feel everyone’s eyes on the back of his head. His partner, his boss, everyone was different…… except Charlie.

He would never know how it had happened; one minute they were seated on his sofa at his apartment discussing a case, and the next thing he knew they were making out and taking each others clothes off. What had scared Colby the most after sleeping together that first time, was that it had felt so right. It was a connection he had never experienced with anyone before. That’s why the morning after hadn’t been embarrassing and neither of them had been lost for words.

The next night it had all happened again but this time intentionally. They were absolutely sure of the decisions they were making. They wanted to feel the connection again that they never knew was there.

It wasn’t long after that they fell in love.
