I wonder how Toby was able to thank Vern for anything ever again.

Even when he's trying to be a better man. Wouldn't it stick in his throat?

I'm trying to gauge when this interaction takes place - it could be they're in one of Sr Pete's sessions, or Toby could still be Vern's prag. Did you leave it ambiguous on purpose? I think it would pack more OOMPH if we knew.

Hi, jumping in here. I assumed it was during the sessions - I can't imagine them having this conversation when Toby was Vern's prag. Also, he doesn't mention Gary visiting, so it would be after his death. I'm thinking.

Hm, true. I'd not thought of Gary's death. Yes, I can't really see it being a Daddy-prag conversation either. Still, I'd like to know if, like - are Andy and Hank dead, or just Andy, or does Vern still think it was Keller... you know, context. *g*

*will struggle on* ;)

Vern softened so much with Carrie and Jewel, but it's always hard to pin down his true motivations.

I was picturing it at the victim-offender interaction that Sr. Pete set up between Vern and Toby. Sorry I didn't make it clear.

And here's the thing: for some reason, it is SO difficult for me to remember who is where, doing what, and what each person knows during S5 and S6. I don't know why! I seriously think on the next round through the show, I'm going to have to take notes.

I never really understood Toby's whole forgiveness thing where Vern is concerned. This is something I can see happening. The two of them coming to some kind of understanding.

Personally, I would have killed Vern with my bare hands, given the chance...

I don't understand it, either. How can Toby sit and have a civil conversation with the man who had his son killed? Toby is a better person than me.

I never understood all the forgiveness and 'every life is precious' talk. Vern had Gary mutilated and killed. Vern contributed indirectly to Harrison's death.
Guess Toby is a very forgiving person ( sometimes ).

I'm with ya. This is why Beecher is so damned frustrating.
