Again he felt the power that went with money and freedom. The plastic surgeon promised to restore him to his former self. The doctor had been kind enough not to ask where he had gotten the scalded tattoo, and did not comment on the vile symbolism. He said the flesh around appeared healthy and he would manage surgery easily.

Interesting drabble & something I hope he had time to do in between incarcerations... *g* I very much liked the first line, since I would guess that the power that goes with freedom was especially memorable for him. And then, the desolation after losing that freedom so much stronger.

Don't mind me! I'm feeling a wee bit maudlin, here, tonight. *g*

Thank you. I too think freedom is power and losing that would be the most impactful for Toby. He still had his money but he could not do anything with it in prison.

Wow. Powerful stuff here. I love Toby's thoughts at the end - it just puts a nice cap on the six season journey that we were witness to. Beautifully done.
