This hobby can be very.. draining at times, financially, emotionally... On the one hand, I want to say "Maybe you just need to take a break!", but on the other, I can understand why you may just want to wipe the slate clean and walk away...
I for one will be very very sorry to see you go...but if it does make you feel that way then do what you need to do. It is probably the most wearing hobby that I have ever known too and it does tend to bring out the worst in some people. I am sure you will one day find the perfect medium for your stories to really come alive.
You're totally right -- this hobby sucks so much out of you, and I'm tired of seeing it go. Thank you for your goodbyes, though. I'm sure I'll figure out something someday. ^^;
Well, kiddo, you know that I think you are a fantastically gifted woman with a head full of brains and a heart full of imagination!!! Although, selfishly, I will miss seeing your voice - I support your need to leave. I, myself, left an online hobby completely and totally after one too many times I found myself feeling badly - and I didn't even say goodbye as you are doing here - so good onya!
I know that you will find a path illuminated by your very own unique light!!!
And if you ever feel drawn to returning to ball-jointed dollery...then that will be find, too!
Thank you for your goodbyes. I will definitely miss seeing you and all your lovelies, and that magical way you have of talking. I hope that you're right about the paths, though -- I have some trouble finding those.
I can understand this decision completely. Especially if you get into stuff fully with the kind of aspirations of being visible in communities as HUGE as DoA it will suck your soul. Even if you don't have those kinds of aspirations sometimes stuff like DoA can be pretty demoralizing.
I'm in the hobby for me (and maybe to make some cash on the side to fuel more of the hobby for myself XD) and so I'm hardly at DoA and my elljay is still just that, MY elljay, and not my dolls'. Though obviously I post doll stuff there too. It keeps you sane in a hobby that could very easily be all-consuming. *snuggles*
Don't disappear all the way, you hear? Outside the hobby readings is always interesting, and I for one love reading you talk. ♥
Yeah, this hobby has gotten to a point for me where I'm tired of pretty much everything, especially of my own fickleness and rotating dolls. I don't want to keep throwing away money for it, and trying to earn a place in the whole DoA hierarchy. It just gets to a point, you know?
Unfortunately, this will be the last you see of me at this journal. I have another LJ, but I use it for commenting -- I'm trying to set it up for life posting so that people who would like to keep in touch can add it. :3
I have on more than one occassion thought of doing the same thing ou are doing now, so I understand. If you ever decide to come back, I will be one of people welcoming your return.
