A Justin Long clip-now with gay analysis!

Feb 07, 2009 21:13

I found this video of Justin Long and some other guys listing chick flick cliches that are not in his upcoming movie awesome and hilarious, but not really on topic enough for this group. But now there's an article examining the clip as being groundbreaking for it's portrayal and attitude of homosexuality!

"It’s not a “gay” video per se, and it wasn’t necessarily created to appeal to gay viewers. On the contrary, the video is directed (at least in    part) at straight men. But that’s what makes it so extraordinary. They’re clearly portraying same-sex couples, but they don’t call attention to it. The actors do not play on gay stereotypes for cheap laughs.' -Brent Hartinger

So here's the video:

Not interested in analysis of homosexuality in cinema and popular culture? Watch it to see Matt slide down a wall while sobbing. That could so be part of a vid! Only the vid would have to be very sad, so I don't really want to encourage it even...Edit: The video with him in it is available for free download on iTunes! Just search 'He's just not that into you', it's the top result.
