She’s never had a dream to be this or that in life. No aspirations to make a living. But she could have. She could have been a star not like Juliette. She could’ve been a star because she’s good at pretending. So very good. She’s got the whole world convinced it’s Nick she wants and always has.
She doesn’t want him as anything more than a friend. It became more when they were young because girls like her didn’t fall in love with their best friends who had chin length chestnut hair and a sprinkling of freckles across their nose and cheeks. And if they did, they shared drunken kisses once, maybe twice, and then grew up to tell their daughters, “I had a lesbian experience once.” So Nick became her boyfriend.
Then he proposed.
