I have a question that I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me with. Is there something I need to do once I get married for my name not to change or do I just do nothing and my name doesn't change? I know this is probably a very simple answer that everyone on my friends list but me knows the answer to but somebody please humor me.

As far as my little knowledge goes, I don't think you have to do a thing. One of my friends never changed her name on anything for over a year...which is good because they got divorced within the same time frame. He was a jerk.

You don't need to do anything. Just sign the marriage certificate with your own last name. If you wanted to change your name, then you have to actively do things, but the status quo requires nothing.
