Many, many, good thoughts!

Some practical advice:
- if you have health insurance, he should go see his doctor right away.
- ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen sodium (Aleve) are much better for muscle strain than acetaminophen (Tylenol).
- use warm moist heat compresses (wet towels work) for at least 20 minutes at a time.
- don't bend at the waist while lifting *anything*, even just getting up from a chair.
- ask the doctor for appropriate stretching exercises.

Best wishes. *hugs*

Hoping things get diagnosed and fixed fast. Hang in there. It sounds tough.

Many, many good thoughts.

In addition to what someone else said. Not only never bend from the waist, but always lift by pushing with your knees.

It will be fine. I grew up with a mother whose back went out every three or four years because of muscle spasms. I put on her socks, tied her shoes, and did all sorts of things because she couldn't bend without pain. I was in college the last time she had a problem. They put her in pelvic traction, then gave her a series of exercises. She hasn't been hospitalized or flat in bed because of back pain in almost thirty years.

I hope it doesn't take your husband long to feel better. We're thinking of you.
