visit to the National Zoo

May 09, 2006 11:04

i was bored so i went to the zoo. also figured that it would be a good place to get some closeups of birds. but before heading to the birdhouse, i was able to take some photos of the baby panda, tai shan. here's one and the i spent the rest of the time trying to get some photos in the outdoor birdhouse. i forgot to take photos of the signs that said what types of birds there were there, so i had to try to figure it out myself. i've been using enature.com but they didn't have all the birds i was looking for there. but after some research, i was able to find out the names of these feathered friends (i hope i got them right).

tai shan the baby panda bear.

white-crested laughingthrush (garrulax leucolophus)

double-crested cormorant (phalacrocorax auritus)

common peafowl (pavo cristatus)

bluejay (cyanocitta cristata)

ok ok, that last one was in my neighborhood. :P
