Not inactive, I don't think - he had a novel out a year or two ago, just not SF.

The writing in his autobiographical stuff is way better, I think, and in the more lyrical (non-porn) novels, like Dhalgren and Stars in My Pocket. I think there's something about the genre conventions of SF, especially older SF, that asks for a flat tone and lack of characterization that makes everything awfully workmanlike.

My first thought upon seeing it is that he and Alan Moore should fight. For what I'm not sure. Best pornfiction writer?

My money's on Delaney. Also, I really enjoy your reviews, and I must read more Audre Lorde.

I'm not sure. Delaney looks like a scrappy fellow, and I'm sure he's eccentric enough to take on Moore, but does he have a basilisk's stare capable of stopping fanboys and -girls alike at twenty paces? Considerations like these are of great import. *nods sagely*
