I've had several major vertigo attacks set off mostly by viruses. Once because of a high salt intake at Thanksgiving. Killing it with dramamine has worked the best.
The first time I was tested for a stroke (at age 17) using the stick your tounge out and pull my finger methods.
I always keep some dramamine around in the house just in case.
Maybe you're fighting some random virus. Everytime I've had problems with vertigo, it was either a few days before I had a cold or I had an ear infection (the latter is a bit more obvious so it probably wasn't that).
Glad you didn't have a stroke. Hope you feel better.
Could be a virus, or random ear-rock rearrangement. I'm doing the exercises to get rid of that, but either way it takes time. Sleeping on the less-dizzy side seems to be helping for the last two days, or maybe it's getting better anyway.
