Save your change!

Feb 19, 2008 08:41

So after seven years of sticking all our loose change into a big pretzel barrel, it was half full and getting hard to lift. Anybody want to guess how much money half a giant plastic barrel can hold? (I wish we had weighed it... let's see, fifty gold pieces make a pound...) Since we were moving, we finally decided to cash it in, so I took it to ( Read more... )

Here's hoshiadam's moving post with the plans, we're planning on doing the big stuff Saturday: http://hoshiadam.livejournal.com/

Thanks for the offer! We have three people definitely helping (I should probably tell my brother that he's been volunteered) and four maybies, and wayferny watching the SAM. So we aren't too desperate, but we wouldn't say no if you felt like coming out to help. :)

On change- Have I not stressed this for years!?! I use to buy Nintendo games from my saved left over lunch money when I was a kid. Not buying cokes adds up to alot.

On moving- The more people the better. You have a truck reservation? I think when I moved I got the last one left with a reservation.

On jury duty- Yes.

I thought we'd have fifty dollars or so. :) And apparently, even when other people are using your change to buy Cokes during games, it still adds up to a lot. :)

We have a truck reservation, yay us. They reserve the right to upgrade us to a bigger size if they run out of the one we requested. Hopefully if they do the truck will still fit in the parking lot.

CoinStar doesn't charge the fee if you get a gift card or an eCertificate instead of cold cash. However, Ingles Supermarkets are one of the few places where you can have that option. I know my father's done that several times, normally getting an eCert to Amazon.

This one apparently didn't have a gift card option. Oh well :)

I would have liked a certificate for Amazon. Sadly, it seems that Kroger doesn't have the option. Don't think we have any Ingles nearby either. I kind of felt like the bank would give me mean looks if I brought all that change in for them, but they probably have a machine too.

Food City has that option. Amazon cards too. Most people use it for the cash though.

Be prepared for MORE disruptions in his sleep routine right after the move. When we moved to Huntsville, the first room we unpacked completely on the first day was SP's room, so she would feel the impact less. Never-the-less, she was up several times a night for about two weeks after the move. Of course, then I was hospitalized and that disrupted her even more, but I'm sure that won't happen to you after your move.

Good luck!

Yep. He usually sleeps just fine when we're traveling, so I'm hoping the move won't disrupt him too much, but at this rate it will be hard to tell.

And yeah, I vote for not getting hospitalized after I move. :)

Thanks!

As it is not Friday or a weekend right now, next weekend is the 23rd-24th.

At least, it is to me :)

Aha! We're planning on moving furniture and hopefully everything that won't fit in my car, at the minimum. Anything beyond that will just make us very happy that it is getting moved.
