I pick a nit: "semme" should be "seme," the m is not doubled. As you probably already know, it comes from Japanese "semeru," to attack, in its nominalized form; it is used in contradistinction to "uke" from "uku," to receive.
Awkward indeed, #3! o.o
If you ever write something with the name given in #4, please please please put it online somewhere! I have about a dozen people who need to read that paper.
Must find some of these books now. I don't suppose you do inter-library loan? XD
(I don't suppose you'd buy that I was just catching up on old "It's Walky!" strips as an excuse?)
In fact, we do ILL, but not brand-new-to-us books; wait six months or so. I told our ILL librarians to expect a bunch of requests; she's already complained about all the libraries after our yaoi.
I just find it really amusing that they used "Faith and Fidelity" as a title. (Also, why the hell can't I find TVTropes's page for whatever they've decided to call Magic Hoo-Ha? :P )
Well, it's a little repetitive, but it actually does nicely encapsulate the themes of the story.
The sorta-sequels are LOVE & LOYALTY and DUTY & DEVOTION, which honestly begin to sound to me like twee names for a pack of mini-Schnauzers, complete with matching doggie sweaters.
I followed your link from Talk. This is very interesting. I noted one line you might want to change slightly:
There was also a nigh universal reliance on the Straight Female Best Friend (the flipside of the Gay Best Guy Friend so overused in some mainstream romances) to act as emotional support, sounding board, and source of straight talk about relationship difficulties.
The second instance of "straight" is a wee bit ambiguous. ;-)
This is hilarious and informative. I adore the idea of you writing about slash for your job! (I mean, ahem, m/m romance. And it's canonical for the books it's in. Still, I bet you never thought you'd be doing that when you were a wee hapax deciding to be a librarian. :D)

Hah! I just bet. X3
Maybe the popularity of your collection will inspire other areas to make a similar move. *rubs hands gleefully, pets white cat, takes over world*
