Gosh, how does this only have one comment so far?

I'm gonna be honest: I didn't think I was gonna like it. I mean, it has elements I like--like, you know, Michael--but, c'mon, they were in a dream-state 60s hotel with freaky ass shit going on. And it was by two people. But.

But.

I really did. There were a couple parts that were just kind of slightly terrifying--Chris/David setting himself on fire and then getting back up; the orgy that, I kid you not, threw me back to reading Brave New World; Bones. It was supernatural.

It was Supernatural. Bravo, star children. Bravo.

Heh, we knew there might be a risk of people going, "What the hell is THIS?" But hey, who can resist a haunted disco motel? (Hopefully!)

We're really glad to hear that you took a chance on the story anyway, and enjoyed it despite reservations - that's a real compliment there :). And you make me want to reread Brave New World. But anyway, thank you so much, for reading and for commenting!

I've been waiting for this one, too. When I saw all the pairings, I have to admit I was a little nervous about it. I shouldn't have been. I almost burned my dinner because I couldn't stop reading. It was eerie and surreal and emotionally rich. It was beautifully written, full of intense imagery and structured just right to pile up the tension and parcel out answers and insights in an ideal ratio. Sam's voice was wonderful. Michael was a fully realized character. Dean was the strange attractor around which the whole incident coalesced. Bones was the stuff of carnival nightmares. The interrelationships were complex and realistic. Reading this is a lot like staring into a kaleidoscope, where the patterns shift and rearrange, fascinate and tease, hang just on the edge between chaos and coherence, and stun with beauty throughout.
The two of you have created something special. Thanks for sharing it.

You know, I have a hard time finding a reply to your comment. You've said a lot of beautiful things that we are truly touched to hear. We didn't realize that people might be leery of the pairings and the disco, but that makes it even more meaningful that people are reading the story despite reservations, and enjoying it. It's not the story that we expected to write, so it's actually really cool to hear that it's not the story that people are expecting. Thank you so much, for reading and for giving us such a lovely comment.

I really had no idea what to expect with this one - not with the case, which was great, but with the relationships. You've created something really deep and complex there, and I really love the ending, where there just aren't any easy answers and nothing is simple or clear.

We're big fans of that sort of ending! Although that was the only thing we argued passionately about - she won for a happier ending than I originally had planned, which was totally (IMO) the correct choice. Thank you so much!!
