Coming off of Anti-depressants Sucks

I ended my pill-popping days of Wellbutrin back in November.  I had always thought of these drugs as temporary -- to fix the synapses that were broken during a bad childhood and then to move on.  But, of course, the medication management doctor tried to dissuade me but I persisted.  Since I've had anxiety attacks in the past, I probably should stay ( Read more... )

I know that this isn't what you want to hear, but it is quite possible that you might have to stay on the medication (or on herbs that do the same thing under medical care) for the rest of your life.

I will. I know that I will. My brain chemistry is just too twisted without the drugs doing things to stabilize it and it's No Fun For Anyone when I'm not medicated.

Self-medicating with alcohol = bad idea, BTW.

I can't tell you how much that sucks. Right now, I can't tell the difference between what my real feelings are and what is the craziness is that is brought about by not being protected by the medication. In some ways, my last relationship ended badly and with great losses to me since I was numb to my true anger and was just running away as fast as I could, and just signed off paperwork to get it out of the way ( ... )

If the medication is numbing you like that, then you maybe need another medication. I don't have that effect with my medication -- I can still feel everything that I normally do. I just don't have panic attacks and I'm not thinking about suicide (planning suicide ...) every single day, multiple times a day. Oh, and my sex drive is lower, but that's not a tragedy, since it was insanely high and I don't have an outlet right now.

So, yeah. If it was doing that to you, then you probably should be on something else. You might want to talk with your doctor about that, too.
