I went with my sister to the Bastille Day thingy in Philly today. We had a really good time! First we had dinner at Jack's Firehouse. Jack is a guy that used to have a cooking show with Bobby Flay. I think he has sold the place to someone else, but the good food lives on!
The weather got kind of overcast, which ended up being a good thing. We stood

Wow, The Divine Lorraine Hotel is pretty fucking cool. I had to look into it:
Some history.... This is a cool place that salvages from building that will be redeveloped. There are some neat pics here.
Then, I saw pics here and I wonder if they're of a different side of the building, or if they were just taken a while ago.
Great pics, glad you had a nice time :-)

When we first drove past that building we were amazed by it! I had to go back for some pictures.
It seems the building has quite a history! I like those pics of the inside. And I see in one of those links that Father Divine's private suite was on the 9th floor.... I wonder if that has anything to do with "fuck the 9th"?
Those last pics were definitely from a while ago, because the windows aren't boarded up yet. The parts of the facade that are missing now - the statues and stuff - it could be because they've been taking bits of the place and selling them. I read that the interior has been gutted. I wonder what they will do with the place?

The buildings in the first shot and the last ones are fucking gorgeous, omg. The pics look amazing and they're just really, really lovely shots you've gotten, darling. The facades of old buildings are incredible looking. Shame nothing being made nowadays is anywhere near as interesting to look at, eh?
(and I would assume the Fuck the 9th comment would be aimed at the police, seems most likely. People who tend to do those kinds of things don't seem too fond of the cops. Can't imagine why ;) ).

The penitentiary is a really amazing building - the colors and everything. I just love going there. The other building is great too. I'm so glad we happened to drive past it! I don't know why people don't build stuff like that anymore. You never really see an interesting detail in newer buildings. It's a shame.
As I said to Hersephoria, I noticed on one of her links that Father Divine's (he owned the building at one point) private suite was on the 9th floor. Maybe whoever wrote that hated the guy. LOL!

People are always too lazy and in too much of a hurry to turn a profit nowadays to take time on something and actually make it beautiful. It's messed up.
Ohhh... that makes sense. So... just ignore what I said before. LOL

I'm shocked they haven't kept it as a hotel or some historical type thing.
It looks like a fun day ^_^

I'm glad you had such a good day darling:)

I think Marie had more than just cola in her cans. She appeared to be a bit drunk! :P

I LOLed at the woman holding up those prompt sheets :))
That abondoned building is so impressive. It must have been a "Divine Hotel" long ago. I guess it would take a lot of money to restore it, but certainly it would be worth it.

Unfortunately I think that hotel will look completely different if they convert it into condos or something. That would be a shame, because it's such a cool place.
