Oh man, I forgot your mom's family was from New Orleans.

Since you are a little closer to the action there, what, in your opinion, is the best place to donate to at this particular moment? Who needs the most help, the food banks?

It's kind of hard to say because everything's still so disorganized and communication isn't very good. Food is a huge problem right now for the people still trapped in the New Orleans area, so I don't think you could go wrong with a gift to America's Second Harvest: http://www.secondharvest.org/default2.asp
